Hello AnitoFam,
Around dinner time yesterday, Oct 15 2023, our Discord server was compromised via social engineering. The hackers immediately removed all the moderators and project owners and impersonated the core team. They then initiated a typical scam token drop for 24 hours.
Thanks to the swift actions of our community managers and guild representatives, we were able to get the word out to a lot of our community members. We would like to thank our community for helping spread the word. In times of distress, we really just have ourselves and the people who choose to be around us to rely on. Thank you to everyone who reached out privately (and publicly) to help.
What is important to note is that the game was not affected. People could play normally, and in fact, from our analytics, it seemed like a normal playing day. That being said, we learned a very important lesson. It is because of our stop-gap measures that we were able to contain this breach within Discord. Moving forward, we are implementing additional safeguards to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
We, the founding team — James, Erick, Jed, and Jayvee sincerely apologize for the stress this has caused our community. It has been a very anxious 24 hours for us as we tried to get the server back. To ensure complete safety, we decided to close the old server and rebuild the Anito Legends Discord server from scratch.
While we get our new server up and running, we continue our movement to Polygon with a slight scheduling delay. We are also releasing new seasonal content in time for Halloween. Alongside these two in-game activities, we are preparing for our participation at the YGG Web3 Games Summit this November (Yay! We have a booth!).
